Urgency of Awareness: Creating an Inclusive Environment for Diverse Populations

The Center for Community Leadership and Nonprofit Excellence invites you to attend Urgency of Awareness: Creating an Inclusive Environment for Diverse Populations, a 2-day training program led by international presenter Jodi Pfarr in which attendees will learn how to work effectively with diverse populations. The training will take place on Wednesday, April 20th & Wednesday, May 4th from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Training Description: In today’s diverse work, our professional and personal experiences often require us to work effectively with diverse populations – whether that diversity is economic, racial, gender, etc. This unique training will allow participants to become conscious of and better understand their personal experiences while also being open to the complexities of other’s experiences. It empowers leadership to tap into talent regardless of background, and acknowledges and spans those diverse backgrounds. Participants leave with a very practical understanding of how to work effectively with diverse populations to help them better manage, supervise or volunteer within their organizations or communities. This training is intended to be a framework upon which initiatives are built to ensure inclusivity. This training program will take place over 2 sessions and attendance is required at BOTH sessions. This training program also comes with a complimentary copy of Jodi’s book, The Urgency of Awareness: Unlocking the Power within Individual, Organizational, and Community Efforts.

Designing a Virtual or Hybrid Event

The Center for Community Leadership and Nonprofit Excellence invites you to attend Designing a Virtual or Hybrid Event, a training program offered in partnership with The Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University. Presented by instructor Michael Schweisheimer, this training will address both the strategy and tactics in the evolving world of events with an online component. It will take place on Tuesday, May 24th at 2:00 PM. Training Description: The pandemic forced the move from in-person to fully virtual events. We saw how this change can be successful and remove barriers allowing us to draw from a much larger audience than an in-person only event. Now, we must continue to perfect our virtual events to stand alone, and learn how to design them to work in tandem with in-person components. The virtual event is here to stay, and the hybrid event will be the new expectation. This class will address both the strategy and tactics in the evolving world of events with an online component. It will examine the pros and cons of fully virtual versus in-person only events, and show how a hybrid event requires much more than a feed to Facebook Live. It will consider such variables as the purpose and goals of the event, the audience you wish to reach, the event budget and desired return, and the opportunities to have big name speakers and guests from around the world. Tactical issues will also be addressed, allowing you to learn about the growing array of platforms that have come online or been greatly refined since March 2020. The class will include alternative methods of production and distribution for online event components, and their respective strengths and weaknesses. There will be a focus on utilizing a “Strategy First” approach that emphasizes leveraging television program design elements to create an engaging event that doesn’t look and feel like another Zoom meeting.
