The Scranton Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the Matt McGloin Fund of the Scranton Area Community Foundation has received a donation in the amount of $20,000 from the Clinton Family Foundation to further support the Matt McGloin Fund’s mission and to help carry out the fund’s charitable causes.
The Matt McGloin Fund, established in 2017 by Matt McGloin, supports charitable causes in the Lackawanna County region. This support has included funding to help a child being treated for cancer, providing oral health kits for hundreds of children and youth, and funding for veteran’s causes. In addition, the fund awards a scholarship annually to one male or female graduating senior of West Scranton High School who has participated in athletics (51 percentile or higher), has demonstrated financial need, demonstrated outstanding community service, and will be furthering their education by attending a college, university or trade school.
McGloin, a 2008 graduate of West Scranton High School, is currently a free agent in the National Football League. He spent four seasons with the Oakland Raiders and has spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, and Houston Texans. “I’m thankful for the generosity of the Clinton family, through their Foundation, which has done so much good for so many children,” McGloin said. “The McGloin Fund is getting such incredible recognition since it began just over a year ago, and that’s only been possible because of the amazing outpouring of support from generous people in NEPA. I’m excited to see all we can accomplish in the community through the Fund.”
